HOPE ABANDONED
MISSING FISHING BOAT [Per United Press Association.] IN VERCARGI LL' March 23. It is reported from Bhiff that it must be .incepted as a fact that tragedy lias overtaken ihe crew of the missing fishing vessel Twilight. It is a month since the vessel was last seen, and it is learnt that she was provisioned lor a three days’ cruise only. An exhaustive search has boon carried out by vessels eastward and- westward of Foveaux Strait, one vessel having go it? as far as Dusky Sound. All the outlying islands round about Stewart Island have also been visited, in the hope that the men may have reached land. The crew comprise "William Hanning (master), J. Stuart, and C. Traill. Hanning was a thoroughly experienced man. having spent practically all iu« life in the fishing industry about Bluff and Stewart Island.
