AO ESS SHIELD COMPETITION Twenty selected rinks from tlio bowling ’dubs in and around Dunedin are talcing part in the competition on the Otago green for the A Jess Shield. _ In all six rinks were played this morning, while, the remaining fourteen arc to be played later. The green was heavy at the outset owing to tho rain during the week, but improved as the morning progressed under the bright sun. The following arc tho morning results : First Bound. — Alooney, 'Walker. Robertson, and Read (Anderson’s Bay) 23 beat Alnir, Taylor, Tonkin, and Strang (Northeast Valley) 11. Crawford, Telford. Robson, and Falconer (Otago) 22 beat Bell, Peters, Bolt, and Love (Port Chalmers) 14. Rankin, Ufton, Dcvereaux, and Black (Kaikorai) 17 heat Gardiner, Smith, Hutchison, and Bentley (Dunedin) 15. Seelve, Smeaton, Payne, and Shepnard “(Kaituna) 25 bent Edwards, Stark, Dow land, and Stuart (St. Kikla) 20. MTberson, French, Connor, and Witch (West Harbour) 25 beat Campbell, Todd. Anderson, and Tyrrell (Roslyn. . Loudon, Hobbs. Cunningham, and Smith (Mornington) 25 beat Anderson, Thomson, Rannerraan, and Al'Leod (Outram) 12.
