SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT

THE KING’S ILLNESS ANXIETY BMEWHAT RELIEVED Press Association—By Tdograph—Copyright. LONDON, December 28. (Received December 29, at 10 a.m.) A bulletin issued at 11.40 a.m. stated;— “The King had a fair night, with quieter sleep towards morning. There was less difficulty in taking nourishment. His general state has improved during the twelve hours.” At a consultation this morning the progress of the past week was reviewed. During that period there had been definite improvement of local conditions. On the other hand tho general condition, as evidenced by weight and strength, did not show the same progress. The measures best adapted for meeting this difficulty were considered and determined- by Sir Stanley Hewett, Sir Hugh Rigby, Sir Farquliar Buzzard, Sir Humphry Rollcston and Lord Dawson. Lord Dawson saw the King for half an hour during the afternoon, and it was officially stated that His Majesty’s condition was unchanged. Anxiety has been somewhat relieved by the fact that the King had shown some improvement during the twelve twelve hours before the issue of tho bulletin. This, to a small extent, justifies the hope tho doctors expressed last night that the King would regain some of the lost ground. The nignt advance, however, was very slight, and the principal anxiety is regarding the general condition. Tho Prince of Wales called at the Palace twice during the morning. Princess Mary lias postponed her visit to Harcwood Hall.—Australian Press Association-United Service.
