ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MAORI INFANT’S DEATH. Winnie Matthews, a Maori child aged four months, was found dead in bed at her parents’ home at Pakatai on Boxing Day morning. The child was sleeping with her mother, and the blanket bad covered her face.—Whangarei message. ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED. An inquest was held at Puketeraki this morning by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., concerning the death of William Alexander White, twenty-two years of age, whose body was identified by James Davidson, an uncle of the deceased, and evidence was given by the deceased’s younger brother, who was swimming with him at the t : me, Henry Allen, who recovered the body, _ and Constable Hayward, of Waikouaiti.
