Dr E. S. D’A til lias been appointed Professor of Pathology at the Otago University. Captain W. J. Rogers, formerly marine superintendent at Wellington for the Blackball Coal Company, died at his home at Wellington at the age of (if). He leaves a widow and an adult family of three. Mr C. Greig, who for the past three years has been chief commercial agent for railways at Dunedin, is under transfer to" Wellington, where he will take over the position of chief business agent for railways for the North and South Islands. Mr Greig will bo succeeded by Mr C. Barnes, at present passenger agent in Dunedin. Captain W. Nicholas, shore representative at Wellington for Messrs T. Eckford and Co., Ltd., ship owners, at Blenheim, died after a brief illness. Ho was born at Christchurch (ifty-fonr years ago, and was one of the most popular personalities on the Wellington waterfront for many years. He leaves a widow and two sons and two daughters. Miss Evelyn M. Tuckwcll, A.T.C.L., of Adelaide, South Australia, arrived in Dunedin ■ by the Manuka, and is spending a holiday with her brother, the Rev. E. S. Tiiekwell, 8.A., of the Hanover Street Baptist Church. Recent arrivals to the Grand Hotel include Mr J. Price (Liverpool), Mr Charles Ap-Rogers, Miss IE ApHogers, Mr and Mrs A. Bnrnby (London), Mr W. H. Tulloch (Wellington), Mrs A. M. Bramby (Christchurch). . New visitors to the City Hotel include Mr C. Johnston (New Plymouth!. Mr T, Dunn (Napier), Mr and Mrs W. Edmonds (Ashburton), Mr J. Halsworth (Heathcote), Mr and Mrs W. Sbrimpton (Waimate), Mr A. Hamilton (OamanO. Messrs W. Fraser and T. Fleming (Invercargill). Among the latest guests to the Excelsior Hotel are Mr and Mrs R. Butcher (Poolburn), Mrs F. Wallace, Miss J. Davis (Timaru), Mr J. C. Gillespie (Maryborough), Mr J. C. Miller (Milton). Mr and Mrs E. H. Diak (Invercargill). A Sydney Press Association cable message states that Mr and Mrs T. H. Lowry and Professor V. A. Bailey are passengers on tho Maunganui for Auckland.
