Charges of assault and of unlawful possession of a revolver were preferred' against James Alfred Essex Grundy, aged twenty, in the Police Court, Auckland. Sub-inspector M'Carthy said that the accused had been keeping company with a young woman in New Lynn, who was some years his senior, but the girl decided to end the affair, as Grundy’s conduct had been so reprehensible. The young man took bis father’s revolver, losded it, and went round to a clergyman’s house where the girl was, and demanded her. The police were communicated with, and when a constable arrived, Grundy was taking the revolver from pocket. A remand was granted until Friday.— Press Association.
