RED NOSES
CAUSED BY TIGHT STOCKINGS We see so much of stockings nowadays that we must consider that any information concerning them will receive attention. ■’ Therefore the following information, extracted from a ladies’ journal, is offered' tor what it is worth. If our lady friends develop red noses they will at least know tlje reason why: - J Don’t buy stockings the exact lengtl) of your foot. Stockings that fit exactly are not the best to choose from a good-wear point of view. If your big toe fits closely up to the toe of the stocking it will soon find a way through it; furthermore, the stockinged foot will be tight and strained, and will show it. Many authorities declare tight stockings to be the cause of corns, chilblains, and even red noses, because they create pressure and check circulation. You should never pull on stockings by the tops. The leg of the stockings should be turned inside out. so that the toe can be slipped into the foot of it, then the leg can be rolled back into position and adjusted without any tugging or pulling, This method prevents many n ladder. Make sure that the scam comes dead in the centre of the heel before drawing the stocking up. When buying stockings it is wise to buy mending silks and cottons too. Get these just a shade lighter than the hose, for these, in the wash, invariably lose a bit of their colour, and then the lighter cotton just matches them.
