When Florence Eugene Thompson, aged twenty-five, was charged at the Police Court, Auckland, with vagrancy Sub-inspector M'Carthy said she had been living with a man who had suffered from an injury to his eyes, and had been unable to earn sufficient money.' There had been a squabble, and on Saturday the accused threatened to throw herself from Grafton Bridge. A constable tried to dissuade her, but she then said she would go over the end of the wharf.
