ANNUAL BREAK-UP CEREMONY A highly successful year’s school work at St. Joseph's Boys’ Homo, Waverlcy, was brought to a close on Monday of last week, when Ills Lordship, the Light Lev. Dr Whyte presided, and the Very Jlev. Father Delany, the Lev. Father Collins (Adin., St. Joso[ili’s Cathedral), the Lev. Father J Lilly, and the Lev. Father Harrington wore present. In a neat speech one ot the orphan hoys thanked His Lordship and the clergy for their prLesence, and for the consistent interest they had at all times taken in the welfare of the Waverley hoys. The hoys' hand, under the callable conductorship ol their popular bandmaster, Mr 1). Whelan, opened an attractive programme of choice vocal, instrumental, and elocutionary items. Mr P. Hanley presided at the piano in his usual finished style. After the prize-giving, His Lordship the Bishop delivered a very interesting address, in the course ot which he saul that he Imped the hoys would always be true to the principles ot virtue instilled into them by their selfsacrificing teachers, and that in their school years and in the future they would strive to he a credit, to Waverlev. Ho complimented them on their marvellous improvement in music and singing, due to their co-operation with the” work of the .Sisters and their devoted bandmaster. Mr Wbclan, and accompanist, Mr Hanley, both of these hitter having devoted much time_ to the training of the orphan boys. W averlcy had many friends who would see I to it that the hoys had a pleasant time during vacation, and His Lordship Imped they would begin next year's studies fully determined to do even better than they had done in the past. The Very Lev. Father Delany congratulated the boys on their beautiful entertainment, every item of which, he said, was in itself a little gem. He paid a graceful tribute to the work ol Mr D. Whelan and Mr P. Manley; the hoys were indeed fortunate to have the services of two such gifted musicians. In conclusion. Father Delany wished ail a. very happy Christinas. The Sisters of Mercy in charge of the Bins’ Home desire to thank all generous friends who donated prizes.
