CARNIVAL AT ST. CLAIR

An attractive event for the holidays should be the carnival which was opened at St. Clair this afternoon under the auspices of the St. 'Kilda and the Tramway Bands, and which will be continued everv afternoon and evening this week, There are games of various kinds, reminiscent of “ Chocolate Alley ” of the Exhibition, stalls for the sale of useful and ornamental articles, and numerous other attractions. The pavilion and surroundings have been tastefully decorated, and with the carnival spirit wjiich must pervade the show at this time of- the year, people should spend an enjoyable time, while at the same time they will be helping the’ bands. Competitions, including a baby show and a doll-dressing contest, have been arranged for every day of the week.
