A trade union congress, for each industry is the latest idea of Lord MeJchettfor furthering industrial co-opera-tion. Ho is inviting the workers in the Imperial Chemicals Company to organise a trade union consultative council with representatives of all the,various trade unions, to which 45,000 workpeople of the company belong. To this council will be referred all questions that affect fhe welfare of the business and the livelihood of those who are engaged in it. Lord Melehctt’s scheme is in the nature of an experiment.
