THE FITZGIBBONS CASE FURTHER EVIDENCE HEARD. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, December 22. Continuing; his evidence in the Fitzgibhons bribery case, Major Jarvic denied that ho had received £3OO from Fitzgibbons for himself, or for the National Party funds. Mr Winever, K.C.,'counsel for Filzgibbons, said; “Then you can explain wily Fitzgibbons, when drawing £2OO from his bank also withdrew £300? Major Jarvic : “ No.” Major Jarvic admitted that when the Premier (Mr Bavin) was discussing the ’attempt to bribe Mr Brnntnoll, Iho Premier asked whether there was a rumour about £3OO as wollas £2OO, to which Major Jarvic replied: “Yes, there is a rumour, but 1 ba.d no knowledge Unit I was implicated.” Mr ’Winever: “"What was the rumour?” Major Jarvic: “That £SOO had been ■ withdrawn—£2oo having readied Mr Bruntnell, and some suggestion that £3OO reached mo, which is, certainly not correct.” The police tendered a .statement by Fitzgibhons in which lie declared that he had withdrawn £SOO, not £2OO. which was intended for party funds. The case was adjourned till Monday.
