Kabul messages stale that on the night of December M thousands of rebel tribesmen, who during the altcrnoou had seized the Baghi Bala lort, surrounded the British legation, two miles from the city. The Afghan guard lied, and the Minister closed the gates, through which he addressed the rebels, who included the brigand leader, Baclmsakao. The Minister warned them of tbo sanctity of the legation. The rebel leaders thereupon announced that they would not harm the legation, their quarrel being with the Afghan Government.

An air force plane Hew over Kabul yesterday. The British legation signalled “All well.” The situation in the capital is said to he improving.— Australian Press Association.
