SCHOOL VACATIONS

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS SCHOOL SUCCESSFUL YEAR CLOSES The boys of the Christian Brothers’ School were warmly congratulated upon their scholastic and sporting achievements during the year by Bishop Whyte at the break-up ceremony this morning. His Lordship,, in presenting the prizes, spoke of the meticulous care which the brothers exercised in their work, and urged the boys to co-operate with them in every way possible. A number of senior awards were held oyer until the results of the matriculation and intermediate examinations are known. Mr Hanley presented three medals for singing, which were won by J. Hartstonge, W. Smith, and E. O’Kane. The bishop’s medal was held over for the dux of the school, with Dr Hall’s medal for the dux of Form IV. Father Collins’s medal was won by Francis Hall, and Mrs Bakers’s and Mr J. N. Smith’s by W. Cummings. The prize list was as follows: Scholarship Class. Dux, Francis Hall.
