STRATH TAIERI RACING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting of members of the above club, held at Middlemarch, was well attended, and the president, Mr John Turnbull, was in the chair. The balance-sheet showed that the year under review commenced with a credit balance of £4B 9s Bd, and closed with cash in hand £2B 18s 5d and £9 0s Gd owing for nomination and acceptance fees. Stakes amounting to £l4O were given, and the total expenditure was £2lO 2s 3d. The principal receipts were:—Nomination and acceptance fees, £55 14s 6d; gates, £26 3s; and members’ In moving the 'adoption of the bal-ance-sheet’ the Chairman regretted that the financial position of, the club waa not quite so good as it was twelve months ago, but luck in the weather had not been with them during the season. Rain on' the- morning of, the races had helped to spoil the attendance, and a very rough niodit on the date of the big concert arranged spoiled the takings at that function. The issue of ladies’ tickets free to the races had also affected their revenue to the extent of at least £5. The club in tended taking action with < regard to those owners owing nomination and acceptance fees. He desired to thank all those who had made his term in the presidential chair for the past three years so pleasant, and also the owners and trainers who had assisted to make the meeting a success. The balance-sheet was adopted. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing season resulted: —President, Mr John Turnbull (re-elected); vicepresident, Mr W. S. Williams; starters, Messrs Jas. Spratt and O. M’Lean; clerk of course, Mr J. Stewart; clerk of scales, Mr G. Fisher; time-keeper, Mr K. Jl‘Lean; hon. treasurer, Mr R. Brown; secretary, Mr A. H. Finnie (re-elected); assistant, Mr R. Long; iudge, Mr T. Ross; committee—Messrs E. Turnbull, D. Gunion, ! A. Williams R. Brown, A. M'Millan, W. S. Wfl hams, T. Carruthers, W. Moynihan, R. Long, R, M'Gregor, J. Stewart, and C. M'Lean. It was decided to hold the annual race meeting on Saturday, April 6.
