BURNSIDE STOCK SALES

In view of the fact that there will be no sales at Burnside next week, a double market was held to-day. All classes were well forward, the greatest demand being for lambs. Sheep.—There was a good general yarding of 1,521 sheep, of mixed quality. Some heavy pennings of wethers were featured, and there were a number of medium-weight and a proportion of fair to prime owes. The best sale for all qualities was at the highest rates of last week to Is better. _ Prices; Extra prime heavy wethers, 45s 9d to 48s; prime heavy, 40s Od to 425; medium, 34s to 38s; best ewes, 32s to 34s 9d; medium, 27s to 30s. Fat Lambs.—A yarding of about 1,500. There was a fair proportion of good to prime lambs, other pennings lacking finish. The demand was very fair for best qualities at the highest rates of last week. Prices: Prime heavy, 39s (3d to 39s 9d; prime, 34s 9d to 375; medium. 28s 9d to 325; light unfinished, 22s to 255. Fat Cattle.—There was a small yarding of fat cattle, in vicwCof the double market. There were a tew pens of bullocks, tho balance being made up of medium to fair steers and a number of cows and heifers. It was anticipated that there would be an appreciation on last week’s rates for the best qualities. Store Cattle.—A yarding of 230, consisting of mixed grades of cows, a few young cattle of medium quality, and some good sorts of well-conditioned three-year-old bullocks. There was a good general demand. Bullocks sold particularly well, three-year-olds making £l2 to £l4 os. Medium 2)-year steers brought up to £lO. Cows met ■with a good demand. Pigs.—There was a fair yarding of pigs, some being of very fine quality. The opening of tho sale indicated 1 that prices would be ranch on a par with last week.
