BABCOCK AND WILCOX'S APPEAL STAY OF PROCEEDINGS GRANTED Press Association—By Tehg-iph—Copyright SYDNEY, December 19. (Received December 20, at 10.10 a.m.), Mr Justice James granted Babcock, Wilcox, Limited, a rule nisi, calling upon Mr Gates (stipendiary magistrate) to show cause why a writ of prohibition should not bo issued to restrain him from further proceedings upon the convictions under the Secret Commission* Prohibition Act, upon which the firm was fined £I,OOO and ordered to refund to the City Council £10,600. Mr Jua tice James also granted a stay of pr< ceedings as to the magistrate’s order.
