(Received December 19, at 11.16 a.m.) The Commonwealth Statistician estimates that the population of the Commonwealth at the end of September was 6,610,453, being 111,463 more than a year ago. Immigration accounted for 31,075. New South Wales is responsible for nearly half the increase, with a total of 51,973. This State’s population is now nearly 2,500,000.
