*«•# Jatodafom—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 18. A bulletin which was issued at 11 a.xu. read as follows:—"Despite tho foot that the King passed a disturbed night, there is a slight improvement both in the general and local conditions. (Signed) 8. Howett, H. Rigby, Dawson.’-’—Australian Press Association. MONDAY EVENING’S BULLETIN. VARIOUS COMMENTS. Er«a Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 17. The vagueness of the bulletin leaves to much to the imagination that it is difficult accurately to gauge the King’s actual present condition. Authoritative references to the ups and downs have teen so frequently stressed that they must be accepted as an explanation of to-night’s change, but it is not C assuring to . recall the anxiety that s always been previously expressed •t any setback. The somewhat uninformative nature of the announcement finds eminent authorities holding slightly divergent views. One describes the bulletin as indeed disappointing, and he adds: "There is nothing to indicate whether the general rendition is less satisfactory or whether lome local trouble has appeared. The probaiblity is that the weakness, which has been diminishing in the past twenty-four hours, is showing itself more markedly.” Another eminent authority says: “The King made a big improvement during the past few days, and we must expect something of the kind reported to-night. Nevertheless, it does rather increase the anxiety.” The King’s relapse occurred late in jtbe afternoon, because at 3 o’clock it was announced that there was a slight Improvement. It is recalled that Friday night’s news was unfavourable, bat was followed by a more reassuring note, while from then until to-day a alight improvement was mentioned. The Prince of Wales left tho Palace •t 11 o’clock, and was followed immediately by the Duke and Duchess of JFark. —Australian Press Association.
