m NELSON RETURNS STILL HOPEFULL * United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, December 17. Tho Hon. 0. F. Nelson returned by tho Niagara to-day. Ho said he would not comment on the recent arrest of Tanmses at Samoa, He intends to proceed to Wellington to sec his lawyer, Sir John Findlay, and later he will return to Australia. His present business is in connection with his firms operations in New Zealand. He denied that his appeal against deportation from, Samoa was turned down hy the Privy Council. He could not be heard by tho League of Nations, because the League could accept only reports from the representatives of the mandatory Powers.
He is still hopeful of the Samoan tangle being straightened out and of being able to return there.
