WOOL CLIPS
DETERIORATION SUGGESTED THE YORKSHIRE COMPLAINTS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 12. Mr Hunter, president of the Wool Federation, has sent a letter to the newspapers replying to the Australian comments on his speech at the Dominion Farmers* Conference on August 13. Ho says that the wool trade interests in Britain were disappointed that the _ industrial and economic conditions in England since the war had not allowed them to buy for use in England as big a percentage of the total clip as before the war. “ These conditions arc gradually changing to our advantage,” states the letter, “ and it is expected that tho purchase by British firms this season will show an increase on that of last season. Criticism of the character of many clips now coming to the market are made because it is felt that the producers of these wools have failed to realise the importance of maintaining the character of their wools according to ’ the users’ viewpoint, and because there is a danger that as a result of a continuance and extension of the present tendency, if wool values decline seriously, there will be a serious accumulation of this badly bred type of wool, which might ultimately embarrass both the growers and the users. Therefore, tho wool importers of Britain feel that ought to be drawn to this deterioration in tho character of certain wools, and by directing attention to it encourage the growers to correct it and maintain tho j-eputation of the wool growing industry.”—Australian Press Association. .
