'SUSPENSE !'
For the fourth occasion Air Graeme* Holder ami his company produced ‘Suspense’ at His Alajcsty's Theatre last night, and in this very unusual typo of play they made a much better, showing than on the opening night. Members of the cast are now more at home in their respective parts, there is a better understanding among them, and the whole piece, despite many, blemishes, runs much more smoothly* ‘ Suspense ’ is a mystery comedy-drama with a novel plot, working up to an unusual climax. The principal role is undertaken by Mr Graoine-lioldcr. Ho plays the part of an unscrupulous nnaucicr, Sir Peter Brace, whoso chief business in life seems to be to revile everyone with whom he conies in_ contact,; He gains possession oi certain bonds, which are stolen by a mysterious crjniinal called the Ace of Diamonds. The recovery of the bonds and the revealing of the identity of the “Ace” load to some excitement in the final act. Perhaps the best acting of the piece is that of Air Eric Conway in the part of Spencer, tho butler, who helps Sir Peter out of a di(lionßy in regard to fin an co on tho condition that they exchange positions for a term iu the household. ‘Suspense’ will be played again tonight.
