Y.W.C.A. BOARD

PREPARING FOR JUBILEE .V. the first meeting of the hoard ol directors of the Y.W.C.A. lor the year, motions of sympathy were passed with Mr H. K. Wilkinson and Mr Grinling on the loss of their wives, both ol’ whom had shown keen and practical interest in the association, and with All's Speight in the loss of her husband. Mr Wilkinson wrote intimating that his wife had left a legacy of £2o to the association, a gift that was gratefully received.

The Executive Committee reported on a local conference to be held early in March. The morning and afternoon sessions will be given up to a discussion of plans lor the year’s work, and at the evening meeting an account will he given ol the recent conference held at Paerata.

A committee was appointed to begin work on the preparing of the programme for the jubilee celebrations. It is intended to invite (he .National Hoard to meet in Dunedin on that occasion.

The Members’ Council reported on the question of the proposed magazine. The first issue will he published m March, and a competition is in progress for a design for the title page, '.lids magazine should furnish an important organ of news for the association, and should spread interest among the general membership. Senior and citizen chibs reported on their Christmas activities, in which the social service figured largely. “ Dropin ” nights have been held ail through the summer, and have served to keep the girls in touch with the association. Senior clubs and extension department held a mixed camp for boys and girls at Taieri Mouth, and had a very enjoyable time. Girl citizens also had a successful camp at St. Clair. Summer activities have nourished well. The extension department reported a particularly successful tennis and swimming season. The Health and Recreation Committee reported that the physical culture classes, under Miss Tnckwell, would begin about the middle of March. The possibility of holding a health week in Dunedin had been discussed, and it was recommended that the project should be placed before a representative meeting, the programme to include lectures, health talks in firms, demonstrations, window exhibitions and posters, health talks in schools, model kitchens, etc., films, and broadcasting.
