DISFIGURED HEIRESS ASKS FOR HUSBAHD I'Ml-'TT PROPOSALS. More tiiiiii fifty proposals of marriage have been made by letter to Miss Gwendolyn Summers, the young American girl, who is shortly coming to London in search of a husband (says the ‘Sunday Chronicle’). As was reported, Miss Summers was terribly disfigured in a motoring accident, which broke her nose, scarred her checks, and utterly ruined her beauty. MARR Y ING FOR MON FAN To make, sure that she would not he penalised matrimonially her father—-a millionaire—made a will that she must marry an English husband before she is twenty-one or lose his fortune. She is now twenty. Many letters offering marriage have reached the ‘ Sunday Chronicle,’ with the request that they shall be forwarded to Miss Summers. One suitor is a Newcastle medical student. He writes:— I have been moved to pity by the fate of Miss Summers, and would gladly be the husband she seeks. It Ts not her money I am thinking about, but the great unhappiness that her accident must have caused. I expect to be qualified very soon, and if she cares to throw in her lot with me, I shall do ray host to make her happy.
