Great interest centred in this game, as both teams were considered to be very strong and evenly matched, but, contrary to expectations, the Dunedin players took a strong lead right at the outset, and at the twelfth head were 16 to St. Hilda’s 3. With Airs Higginson leading splendidly and Mrs Easton playing a deadly game for Dunedin, the St. Kilda players were finding it difficult to score, but for the next half-dozen ends they had the better of the play, and with three ends to go. had reduced the deficiency to 3 points. The Dunedin team was, however, too good over the concluding stages, and finished 6 up against what was admittedly a very powerful rink.
