ST. HILDA CLUB CHAMPION EDWARDS BEATS HINTON The final of the St. Kilda Club’s singles championship was played last night, when P. Edwards met and defeated J. H. Hinton. The game proved somewhat one-sided, the heavy green apparently handicapping Hinton. At the eighteenth head the score was 2411 against him, and he withdrew. The ladies’ singles champion' is Mrs P. Edwards, so that last night’s victory brings double honors to the family.
MOTORISTS v. CHESS PLAYERS
A two-rink match between the officers of the Otago Motor Club and members of Otago Chess Club was played last evening on Kaituna green. It proved to be a very pleasant meeting for all who participated in it, each club winning in one rink. The scores wore (Motor Club names first)Curtis, Henderson. Halliday, Ansell 29, Gale. Gillies, Marlow, Balk 13 H W. Reid, 11. Macadam, L. Coumhs, H. S. Reid 11, Moody, Hastings, Grigg, A. Ellis 14.
