ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CHICAGO'S ADMINISTRATION PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CRIMINALS AND OFFICIALS CHURCH FEDERATION’S PROTEST
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.
NEW YORK, February 28. (Received February 29, at 8.50 a.m.) As a protest agab: alleged city maladministration in Chicago the Church Federation has appointed March 7 as a day of public prayer, and adopted a resolution declaring that conditions in Chicago are such that the ballot box was wantonly violated and life and property in a large measure wore unsafe. The homes of citizens were menaced by bombs. Crime and graft and corruption were besmirching the city’s good name, Moreover, the evidence seemed clear that there was a partnership between the criminals and some officials, manifested by the hundreds of gambling joints and vice dens, which were openly tolerated by negligent officers.
