OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIPS The Otago croquet championships were continued yesterday afternoon on the Punga green. The following are the results of the play;— CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. First Draw. —Third Round.— Mrs Walling Jones beat Mrs Rigby, 2G-9. —Semi-finals. — Mrs Gascoigne beat Mrs Iknzoili, 20-21; Mrs Corbet beat Mrs Walling Jones, 20-21. —Final.— Mrs Corbet beat Mrs Gascoigne, 2G-4. HANDICAP SINGLES. —Final.— Mrs Bricked beat Mrs Walling Jones, 26-24. This was one of the most exciting games in the tournament. Mrs Availing Jones was trying to peg out, while Mrs Bricked had six hoops to make. After getting a long shot Mrs Bricked got in, and went round to the peg. Both players made two efforts to peg out. Mrs Bricked separated her opponent, and wired and missed the peg with one bad. Mrs Jones picked up a long shot, and in going to her partner put the opponent’s ball to boundary. Mrs Bricked then dribbled up to the peg. Mrs Jones missed the next shot, and Mrs Bricked pegged out.
