OLYMPIC GAMES

DOMINION REPRESENTATION QUESTION OF PRIORITY. [Peu United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 28. At a meeting of the New Zealand Olympic Council, held to night, it was slated that during tho past week £.123 Us 4d. including a donation of £IOO f om Sir Douglas M'Lean, had been received towards tho Olympic Fund. Tho New Zealand Rowing Association has arranged a meeting of rowing men in Wanganui on Friday during tho New Zealand championships to assist the appeal in rowing circles. An important question was raised by tho chairman (Mr J. W. Heenan). “People,” ho said, “arc asking when the Olympic team is going to be selected if money is available. Tho team is already selected. Tho council has received from the several associations four nominations of swimmers, two of boxers, two athletes (there were three, but Rose has retired), and a rowing crew of ten men, a cox. and a trainer All these will go if funds are •available. The real question at issue, in tho event of funds not being available, is who is going. The only thing to do is to call a conference of representatives of the National Association together with one or two representatives of the council come to some arrangement as to the order of merit of the whole team. Tho New Zealand Swimming Association says that Mias Stock ley comes before Miss Miller, but we do not know whether the Swimming Association comes before Miss Miller or the rowing section. This is a matter to be settled by agreement, if possible, or, failing that, by the Olympic Council.” conference of one representation of each national association, with Messrs H Amos and J. W. Heenan, of the council, is to meet next Tuesday to consider the question. The Boxing Association has already provided enough money for its two nominations.
