donedin defence club. The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club shot the first competition for prizes donated by De-puty-president J. T. Gillan and Rifleman 11. Potter on Saturday afternoon. There was an attendance of fourteen, and seven shots each were fired at 500yds and 600yds. Following are the highest scores:— —A Grade.—

Prior to the shooting the members of the Dunedin and Kiwi Defence Rifle Clubs met and stood in silence uncovered in memory of the Into Mr C. Speight, and in recognition of his interest in rifle shooting. KIWI CLUB. —Sweepstake Match.— The Kiwi Rifle Clue fired a sweepstake match on Saturday afternoon. The weather was fine, with a bright light and a strong mirage. Scores: — 500 600

Rifleman W. Crimp and Rifleman R. Osmond shot off for second place, and after the third shot Rifleman Osmond secured second place. Prize winners: Rifleman D. Parsons (63) 1, Rifleman R. Osmond (59) 2.
