FATAL HESITATION
m NEGLIGENCE [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 27. A charge of negligently driving a motor lorry, thereby causing the death of an elderly Maori, Wetere Paid, on December 30, preferred in the Police Court against Claude Francis Stevens, was dismissed by Mr Hunt, S.M., without calling on the defence. The Maori, who was very feeble, was crossing at the junction of two streets when the lorry struck him, breaking one leg, and be died in hospital. An eye-witness said the Maori hesitated when in front of the lorry.
