‘Chang,’ the most unusual picture vet produced, was seen in Australia for the first time at the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne, on Saturday, January 28. Lady Stonehaven and suite were present, and many other distinguished guests. Hundreds were unable to gain admission to see ‘Chang, as the theatre was booked out long before the opening night. I hey are Richard Dix, Pola Negri, Wallace Beery, Raymond Hatton, Elbe Daniels, Florence Vidor, and Adolphe Mcnjou. Jack Raymond has been added to the cast of ‘Fallen Angels,’ which is being produced by Universal, and Crawford Kent will _ replace Ward Crane in this production. The Hon. Anthony Asquith, son ot the late Lord Asquith, Aided for New York recently to try to get an Amencan release for Jiis first film, Shooting Stars.’ Mr Asquith is a director Anno Nichols, the author of the famous stage success, ‘ Abie’s Irish Rose,’ will title the picture version, which is being produced by Paramount. ‘Abie’s Irish Rose’ is one of Paramount’s 1928 programmes, and will be released in New Zealand thiff year. Hugh Leland, wdio has an important part in Paramount’s ‘ Legion of the Condemned,’ was signed on a contract by Paramount following his success in the air picture. ‘ Grease Paint,’ the rights of which Universal recently purchased from Svend Gade, will "be put into proper for mfor a starring picture for Conrad Veidt. Miss Mary Nolan will probably play the feminine lead. For the first time in a year, Clarence Badger, the Paramount director, is working on a picture for a star other than Miss Bebe Daniels. It is the occasion of ‘ Red Hair,’ Miss Clara Boiv’s next picture, for Paramount’s 100 per cent, programme. Richard Wallace, First National’s youthful director wdio made such a fine impression with ‘ M'Fadden’s Flats/ ‘The Poor Nut,’ ‘American Beauty,’ and ‘ A Texas Steer/ has been assigned to direct the screen version of ‘Lady, Be Good.’ Miss Dorothy Mackaill and Jack Mnlhall have been chosen for the loading roles in this production. The complete cast of ‘ 'Lillie’s Punctured Romance/ which Paramount is making, is as follows:—W. C. Fields, Chester Conklin, Louise Fazenda, Mack Swain, Tom Kennedy. Doris Hill. Grant Withers, Babe London, KV-lla Pasha, Micky Bennett, and Billy Platt. The picture is an original by Monte Brice, and is directed by Eddie Sutherland.
