MEETING AT TRENTHAM [Pint United Piiess Association.] WELLINGTON, February 24. The weather changed during the night, it rained heavily, and when the men squadded up this morning Jt was showery, and continued so while the first range of the opening match was in progress. Sighting is good, but there is a tricky, right trout wind, which lias a tendency to make shots drop. Generally the shooting at 300yds was good, but no possibles were corded. Tho veteran Frazer from Kaitangaia, who is .seventy-four years of age, registered 34, as did R. A. Jones (Linton), D. M'Kenzic (1 ho Wairarapa champion), and A. \\ . Powell (Akarana) % Tho rain ceased at midday, and the conditions were ideal for chooting. Major-general R. U. Young, Commandant of the Forces, visited the range am 1 was an interested spectator for some time.
In the opening match, now nearing completion, Powell (Akarama) is leading with 101. Others who have done well are; Wilesmith (New South Wales) and Johnston (Fcatherston) each 100, Hood (Font herston) 99, Shannon (Australia), Nix (Fcatherston), Elgar (Hawera) each 93, Forge (Australia) 97.
