'l’lie weather lor the concluding day of the Gore Summer Meeting was fine but dull, and the attendance only fair, the gate receipts being £232 10s, as against £242 6s. The course was good and fast as on the previous day, and the racing was much more interesting and the finishes of several of the raws very exciting and dose. L. J. Ellis was again in good form and won three races during the. afternoon, making a total of six for the meeting. The meeting was well managed by Mr F. Voting and his staff, and Mr M'lvor’s starting was good throughout the two days.
Koauau, who was meeting Coastguard on 91 h better terms in the Mataura Hurdles than on the previous d was made a good favorite, Scion and Coastguard being evenly backed. Atapo at once cleared to the front, and led Scion over the first three fences. Coastguard making bad jumps at the two fences in the straight. Atapo continued in charge to the last fence, whore Koauau was being ridden hard, On the flat he beat Scion by three parts of a length, the latter just heading Atapo off on the post. Atapo’s performance was a very marked improvement on his first day's showing, and the race was nut at a still faster pace than on Wednesday. Investments, £489.

From a good start Ace of Hearts and Quickform were the smartest to begin, and they led along the b.'ick from Camisador, Spcarmaid getting knocked back from fourth place to last. Acc of Hearts and Quickform led into the straight from Cnmisader and Coomassie. Spcarmaid got a good run on the rails; at the turn into the straight. At the distance post Camisader and Quickform were just in front of Coomassie, with Spcarmaid next, and in n splendid finish Coomassie. finishing fast on the outside, gained a half-length victory from Camisader, but from the Press stand, which is in excellent line with the judge, the favorite appeared to win by a long head, with Oniekforra only a head away, third, and Spearmaid threequarters of a length further hack, hut the Judge placed Spearmaid third. Carinthia. and Pod Pacer were next. Investments. £1.151.
11l Uie Autumn Handicap, Wingatui, who carried 4lb overweight to .secure Hmlie’s services, was again .sent out a iiot layoritc, carrying nearly twice as many investments a.s Bilbo, who was much hotter backed than Lucy Locket. The hitter and the favorite led Bilbo for nearly a mile, then Wingatui dropped out, and Lucy Locket led ber into the straight. 'flic latter was tackled by Bilbo at the distance post, and the previous day's winner won nicely by a length. Equerry was half a length away third, a head‘in front of the favorite. Investments, £939.
Only Erin s Advance was withdrawn (Tom the Progressive Harness Trot, and in a good betting race Cardinal and Blue was sent out a slightly better favorite than Lucky Ilaroid, with Spring Chimes, Poolbnrn Lad, and Bricklayer next in demand. Bricklayer and Jolly Maid began very smartly off the limit, and led into the straight the first time, and at the end of five furlongs Smistorm and Cardinal and Bine were running next the field being well spreadeagled. Going along the hack, Jolly Maid took charge, and was three lengths clear from Bricklayer, Snnstorm and Cardinal and Blue, who were on even terms at the far turn. Rounding the top, Lucky Harold ran into fifth place, ami Jolly Maid led Cardinal and Blue, Bricklayer, Sunstorm, and Lucky Harold into tile straight. The latter, wide out, finished very well, and heat Jolly Maid homo hy three lengths, Bricklayer a similar distance off third. Cardinal and Blue and Sunstonn were next, investments, £1,3241.
Tardy was solidly backed in tho Trial Plate Handicap, Cupid’s Dart being the only other well backed- The favorite was slow to find her feet, and Cnrainha. and Thessaly led out from Cupid's Dart. This was the order to the home turn, where Caramba dropped out, and Cupid's Dart took charge. She stayed on to win nicely hy a length and n-half Irom 'lbessaly, who beat Tardy by a bead. Karitane was a neck away fourth, and Vinegrove and Cayoma next. Investments, ,£1,1121. » * ¥ * King Balboa carried nearly twice as many investments as either Miss Pinkie or Lucy Docket in the Borough Handicap, for which Brightling was withdrawn, with Soltoo and Spean Bridge also well backed, Apple Dighton and Lucy Locket began very smartly, but. after going a furlong the former was well clear, and at the far turn was ten lengths in front of the favorite and Miss Winkie. Apple Dighton led into the straight by three lengths from King Balboa, Miss Winkie. and Spean Bridge, hut, stopped in the straight. King Balboa was in charge at the distance post, and won hy half a length from Spean Bridge, heads only separating her from Soltoc, Miss Winkie, and Apple Dighton. investments, £T,4-36. ■ * ■ * * In the big held of nineteen- in the Telegraph Harness Trot Sunshower was mfide a good favoHte, carrying more
than twice as many investments as Jolly Maid, who was a good second choice, with Thrift and Sunfish the next best fancied. Overture and Jolly Maid began the best, but after going two furlongs Overture, Sunny Bob, and Sunfish were in front, and they led to the back stretch, where Quo Vadis ran up n'ext to Overture, and the pair led to the far turn. Sunfish then took charge, and led Sunny Bob and Quo \adracross the top, and turning into the straight Sunfish was just in front of Willie Wilkes, Sunny Bob, and the favorite. Taking a wide course down the straight the latter joined Sunfish at the distance post, and in a goodfinish beat him by a long neck. Willie Wilkes was a dozen lengths off third, followed by Sunny Bob. Quo Vadis, aim Ovcrtu re. * * • ’• Spcarmaid and Caraisader were withdrawn from the President’s Hack Handicap, for which Solzia, with a 51b allowance, was sent out favorite, Strathnaver and Flying Mist being next in demand. Qniekform led Flying Mist out of the straight, then Quickfortn and Strathnaver took up the running, and led Flying Mist along the back. Quickform and Strathnaver led info the straight, hut at the distance post t lying Mist got tip on the rails, and in another good finish won by half a length from Qniekform, who beat Strathnaver by a head.
