MINISTERS COMING SOUTH
PREMIER’S CENTRAL OTAGO VISIT DATE STILL INDEFINITE (Special tc thb ’Star,’] WELLINGTON, February 22. The Prime Minister leaven Wellington on Friday night, en route tor Greymouth, to attend the West Coast jubilee celebrations, and he will return to Christchurch on Wednesday. Mr Coates has undertaken to visit Central Otago and Dunedin at the earliest opportunity, but he is not yet able to state whether this will be possible on the present southern visit. If he goes on to Otago he will be accompanied by Mr K. S. Williams (Minister of Works), who leaves on Monday for Blenheim, from which point he will make a journey, partly on horseback, through Upper Awatore to Hanmer, thence to Christchurch to meet the Prime Minister. Mr Williams’s object in making the inland trip is to look into the suggestion from Marlborough that, by the expenditure of a moderate amount, an alternative road for stock from Marlborough to Canterbury can be provided without using the Coast road, where motor traffic is encountered, The Minister of Works is expected to proceed to Central Otago after reaching Christchurch.
