FURTHER FLOODS

RECURRENCE IN N.S.W. TOWN OF NYHGAN THREATENED SETTLERS FARE BADLY. Pfesa Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 23. (Received February 23, at 11 a.m.) Floods in the Bogan River are causing great anxiety at Nyngau. News has been received of a great Hood in the upper reaches, travelling eight miles an hour, and unless the flood waters near Nyngan fall considerably this drift, it is feared, will overwhelm the town. The weather is very muggy, and further rain is expected. Station owners and small settlers on the banks of the Bogan fared badly. In many cases the settlers are imprisoned in their homes with the lands for miles covered with muddy water. The police are endeavoring to carry supplies of food to the marooned settlers, but owing to tho strong current their progress is very slow. The river, which is usually 90ft, now ranges in width from two to ten miles. Further heavy ranis occurred in tho Riverina district, causing several washaways. A part of Junee is again under water, and some of tho surrounding country is inundated to a depth of 2ft. Ganmain also is experiencing a recurrence of the floods, which last week caused damage amounting to many thousands of pounds. A number of business places and residences are flooded. Coblamon and Wagga are also affected.
