MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting ol ihe Otago A- and P. Society was held in the board room to-day, attended by Messrs \V. O. iPKcllar (president), H. Turner, J. Hollyer, J. Nimmo, J. Young, J. I*. Little, T. J. (fawn, T. T. Ritchie, J). J. Ross, A. Johnson, and Chas. Todd. The President submitted the following report from the special sub-commit-tee appointed to deal with various matters in connection with the society’s operations 1, The committee was unanimous in its opinion that it would not be in the best interests of the breeders and the society if the Summer Show should bo discontinued. —Approved. 2. After hearing the views of the breeders as to the time occupied in exhibiting at the different shows and the cost entailed, the committee suggests that the restricting of the Summer Show to one day should receive every consideration.—lt was decided to hold it over and have the question discussed at the annual meeting or conference of kindred societies. .‘L It was evident irom the opinion expressed by many breeders that the want of railway facilities at Tahuna, Park is the main reason why a number of breeders do not exhibit. Tho committee therefore recommends that further efforts should ho made to obtain a railway connection, provided that before any large expenditure is incurred some assurance be obtained that the present line be available for the conveyance of stock lor a number of years.—Approved. 4. The committee was divided in its opinion as to whether the show should bo hold in the summer or in the autumn, the majority being in favor of retaining the Summer Show i.\ bo held in November. It was decided that the president should table a notice of motion for discussion at the annual meeting, as to whether the show should be held in spring or in autumn. 5. The eommittcce recommended that the Finance Committee arrange for a special effort to be made to increase the list of membership to 1,500. The assured revenue from this source would enable the society to meet its liabilities in ease unfavorable weather was experienced at the S iiinmer Show.—A pproved. 6. After a very full discussion, it was decided to recommend that the Winter Show be held on June 2,4, 5,

Green, Otago Education Board’s chief instructor in agriculture, wrote submitting several suggestions in connection with the school section at the Winter Show, which were approved, and Mr Green thanked for his information. . . Fruitgrowers’ Federation 111) 10s, export fruit; A. Stewart, Law’ Courts Hotel, .12 2s, potato section.
