BAKERS AND PASTRYCOOKS' PICNIC

Tho annual meeting of the bakers’ and pastrycooks’ and flourmill employees was held on the Brighton Domain, on Saturday, the party being conveyed to the grounds by Corporation and other buses, also sundry other vehicles, the only fly in tho ointment being the delay in reaching Brighton, which was brought about through an insufficiency of conveyances. But as everyone i’olt in holiday mood, very little grumbling was heard. On flic complete, party reaching_ tho ground, the committee, which consisted of representatives of both employers and employees, very quickly had tho programme of sports started and carried out in a businesslike manner, the various events on the programme resulting as follows: Single Ladies’ Race.—Miss Brookes 1, Mi ss Jones 2.
