FORB 'BY PARK CLOU. A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held on Thursday night, and was attended by Messrs B. S. Irwin (president), James Black, T. Elliott, 11. N. Greenslade, T. Fogg, John Mitchell, James Mitchell, A. G. Neill, W. J. L. Goughian, A. Clark, G. J. Barton, and T. T. Ritchie. Before commencing the business of the meeting the Chairman referred to tho deaths of Messrs T. E. Wilkins, A. B. Armour, J. Barnes (members of the club), and J. Evans, who was a licensed trainer. Votes of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased were passed, members standing. A letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs stating that the club’s appplication for a refund of 1( per cent, on the totalisator turnover for tho Spring Meeting, under section 8 of tho Finance Act of 1925, had been granted.—Tho amount in- olved is £250. It was intimated that Mr George Mason, the caretaker of the park, who was blown over by tho gale which swept across the park on the first day of the Spring Meeting, and had his collarbone broken, would bo able to resume his duties on February 20. j The Secretary (Mr R. Caffin) submitted a rough balance-sheet of the results of the Summer Meeting, a small profit being shown. Reports were submitted by Mr T. H. Davey (stipendiary steward) and Mr H. Griffiths (racecourse inspector) regarding tho recent meeting.—Tho reports were received. Tho following applications for licenses, etc., were recommended for approval of the New Zealand Trotting Association Professional drivers and rider’s license, J. Haworth; professional driver’s license, W. Borthwick; professional rider’s license, B. H. Brodie. The question of replacing tho present glass in tho window on the south side of the stewards’' stand at Forbury Park with glass, giving a clearer view, was referred to the Works Committee to obtain prices. The question of securing now saddle cloths was also referred to the Works Committee. It was decided that the stakes for the Winter Meeting (May 3 and 5) should not exceed £4,800. The race for the New Zealand Sires’ Produce Trotting Stakes will be run at this meeting. Tho Chairman stated that the wellknown goldfields sportsman, Mr John Clare, had decided to present a stop watch to the driver of the winner of the Otago Handicap—for straight-out trotters—at the club’s Summer Meeting to be held in January of next .year.— A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Clare for his gift
