RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES

CHRISTCHURCH, February 16. At iliccarton to-day most of the work was done on the plough, in view of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Meeting on Saturday. Some very interesting gallops were recorded. Moorland reeled off six furlongs in Imin 15 4-ssec, after taking 13sec for the first furlong. The Finland gelding moved in good style, and finished well. Countersign boat Satrap over a mile in Imin 43 l-ssec. It was a useful effort on the part of both horses. Greyfinch beat Lancer over six furlongs in Imin 18sec. Ophir, Rascal, and Moratorium started off for a. six-furlong spin. Moratorium was beaten off, while Ophir was a little better than Rascal at the end of the journey, which occupied Imin 17 3-ssec. Sir Roy and Margaret Birney occupied Imin 17 4-ssec for six furlongs, Sir Roy having a slight advantage at the finish. Thorndale and Rina Mangn were companions in a working gallop over six furlongs. Thorndale looks in great order. Footfall was worked on the course proper, where ho galloped nine furlongs in 2min 1 4-ssec, taking 54sec for the last half-mile. He was going nicely all the way without being asked to do his best.
Arikiwai, Starflight, and Rapier were associated over seven furlnogs, which occupied Imin 30 2-ssec. Arikiwai was in front all the way, and beat the other pair nicely, registering a very attractive gallop, which gained him admirers.
Sudden Storm ran six furlongs, taking Imin 3sec for the last five, without being’ ridden out. She is very well.
First Sight covered six furlongs in Imin 15 4-ssec. It was a smart performance, as she went off slowly. Amourette was responsible lor u brilliant effort over five furlongs. She beat Fair Exchange and Crossbow very easily, registering Imin 2sec. Amourette shapes like showing up in the two-year-old events.
