MATCH AGAINST NELSON [Per United Press Association.] NELSON, February 16. The cricket match Australia v. Nelson was resumed this morning in ideal weather, Ronsford and Kippax continuing Australia’s first innings. Both batsmen settled down to steady scoring, and 25 were added in the first quarter of an hour, Kippax being the most prolific scorer. Newman and Hope opened the bowling, the first named being hard to score off. The century was hoisted after ninetysix minutes’ play (Ponsford 40, Kippax 36).. The batsmen were playing free and attractive cricket, and boundaries were frequent. Sewell replaced Newman, and Taylor went on in place of Hope, but the rate of scoring was not, diminished, the batsmen taking advantage of any openings in the field.
