Forecast. The Dominion Meteorologist (Dr E. Kidson) supplied the following at noon to-day:—The indications are tor northerly winds, moderate to freshening, but later backing by west to south; there is a prospect of fair weather, the conditions will probably become wanner, but appears, bkeiy to be cloudy and unsettled shortly, with showers; barometer falling, but rising shortly about about sixteen hours; tides moderate; sea moderate, but increasing.
SAlLED.—February 15. Opihi, s.s. (4.35 p.m.}, 1,117 tons, Grey, lor Wellington.
The Opihi sailed last night lor Wellington to complete discharge of her timber cargo. The Kurow, from Wellington, was due' early this afternoon with cargo for discharge. She is to sail to-morrow for Bluff. The Wingatui is expected to leave Lyttelton this evening lor Dunedin. Sin will load here to-morrow for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. A departure from Gisborne last night was the Kahika for Lyttelton and Liu If, thence Dunedin. The vessel is to load here for Napier and Gisborne via ports. To-morrow the Kartigi is to leave Auckland for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. The Gale has been delayed at Lyttelton owing to rain, and was due here to-day at noon. She will not sail tomorrow for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Calm is now due on Tuesday Irom Bluff, and is to load and sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Breeze has been fixed to load cargo here on February 21 for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Hertford is to finish her Homeward loading at Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington, leaving the latter port finally on March 3 for London via Panama and Southampton. The Government steamer Hinemoa is due at Auckland to-morrow evening from Niue Island. Later she will dock at Auckland for cleaning and painting, clearing the northern port again on February 23 lor Norfolk Island.
According to cable advice, the Island steamer Tol'ua arrived at Suva yesterday from Apia. She is to clear Suva this evening for Auckland, where she is due on Monday next. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co, advise that the West Nivaria left Los Angeles on February 0 with a cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She is duo at Auckland on March 4. The Union Company’s motor ship Hauraki, from Pacific Coast ports, is expected to arrive at Auckland next Sunday. After discharge there she will go to Wellington, thence Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney to complete. 1 THE FERRY SERVICE. The Wahine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.5 U a.m., and southern passengers connected with the first express. TAIN ITS PASSENGERS.. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera, with passengers, mails, and cargo, is scheduled to clear Southampton to-morrow for Auckland, Wellington, and Napier. She is due at Auckland on March 24.
CANADIAN HIGHLANDER REPORTED. En route from Halifax to Auckland, the Canadian Government steamer Canadian Highlander is reported to have arrived at Colon on Friday last. She is due at Auckland about March 10, and from there will go to Wellington, Lyttelton, Tima'ru, and Dunedin to complete discharge and commence loading for New York. Boston, and Halifax, returning to Auckland via Wellington to fill up early in April. TAMAROA LEAVES COLON. Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company that their liner Tamaroa left Colon on Saturday afternoon for Southampton and London, en route from Auckland. The vessel sailed from Auckland on January 21. MAMARI FOR AUSTRALIA.
A cable message reports that the Mamari left London on Saturday last with general cargo to be discharged at Australian ports. The vessel will subsequently come to New Zealand to take the middle of April loading for Home. THE CITY OF WINCHESTER. The departure from Colon of the City of Winchester on Sunday morning is reported in a cable message received. She left Port Chalmers on January 18 for London. WAIKOUAITI FOR NEW ZEALAND. The Union Company reports that the cargo steamer Waikouaiti sailed from Sydney on Tuesday evening for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Tiinaru. The vessel is due at this port on Tuesday next.
