ARBITRATION COURT
LABORER'S COMPENSATION CLAIM The Arbitration Court sat again yesterday afternoon before the president (Air Justice Frazer), and the assessors (Alessrs A. L. Monteith aud W. Scott). The case heard was that of John Robert Burke O’Hara, a Balclutha laborer, who claimed £350 compensation from the Otanomorao River Board. Mr R. S. Bremner appeared for the plaintiff, and Air B. S. Irwin for the board. It was stated that the plaintiff was the administrator of the estate of Robert Duncan O’Hara, laborer, who waa drowned at Paretai in July, 1927, while in the employ of the board. The average weekly earnings of the deceased were £4 16s. The plaintiff and his wife, who have thirteen children (five of whom are married) gave evidence as to their financial circumstances. The question for settlement was whether certain members of the family were dependents of the deceased, and, if so, to what extent. Mr Irwin addressed the court.. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £125, costs £lO. 10s, and witnesses’ expenses. ____________
