AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS

THE im OPENED MATCH AGAINST NELSON [Pkb Unites Pbbss Association.] NELSON, February 15. The Australians opened their New Zealand tour against Nelson this morning at Trafalgar Park. An excellent wicket had been prepared, but an overnight shower had taken some of the sting out of it. The outfield was fast. Oxenham and Alexander were omitted from the Australians. The latter won the toss and sent Nelson in. Neale and Kinzett opened, Neale scoring two 2’s off Morton's first over. M'Namee bowled from the other end, and kept the batsmen quiet. After half an hour’s play the score was none for 20. Neale reached double figures with a leg glance for 4. There was a doable change at 20, Grimmett and Blackie going on. With the advent of Grimmett throe wickets fell rapidly. Kinzett stepped out to one, and Oldfield snapped oil the bails. Neale was beaten by an off break, the ball coining off his pads; while Taylor, failing to get under another leg break, was caught at third man. The other howlers were played confidently. At the luncheon adjournment the score was 55 for four wickets. Details E. R. Neale b Grimmett 13 C. Kinzett st Oldfield b Grimmett 0 E. J. Kemnitz c Jackson b Blackie 9 J.
