CABLES AND WIRELESS
THE LOUDON CONFERENCE IMTEREBTIKS DEVELOPMENTS EXPECTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, February 14. (Received February 15, at 1 p.m.) Interesting developments are expected shortly Irom tho wireless and cable conference. Evidence has been completed, and the conference is conferring with Marconi’s and the Eastern Company concerning the negotiations proceeding between these companies with a view' to a pooling arrangement. It is understood that the conference attaches great importance to the American developments, and is anxious to arrive at a solution enabling Empire communication to be maintained in face of the growing competition. Several newspapers report that Marconi’s and the Eastern Company have reached a deadlock. It is understood that this is unfounded. The greatest efforts arc being mado i to reach an agreement, with the stipulation that the present beam rates are not increased, and provision for future reductions, if necessary, to meet outside competition. It is probable that any co-operation between Marconi’s and tho cables will be subject to Government supervision.
