R.S.A. AFFAIRS
EXECUTIVE MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last evening, the president (Mr A. C. Laing) being in the chair. One new member and one honorary member were elected, and one inward transfer was received. It was decided to elect the Rev. Hector Maclean a life member. The secretary reported upon a recent meeting of amputees, when the following resolutions were passed;— “That amputees possessing wooden limbs too heavy for comfortable wearing should be allowed to apply for a lighter limb, and that representations should be made to the Pensions Department in that respect; that applicants for the new type of. limb, on arrival of the limb, should submit themselves for examination by the Pensions Department in this respect; that more prominence should be given limbless matters in the R.S.A. ‘Review’; that a demonstration of the Government standard type of limb should be given as soon as possible in Dunedin.” The report was adopted. The secretary reported on the unemployed position, and stated that things were very serious. Since February 1 seventeen married men and one single man had registered. It was decided that the Unemployment Committee go into the matter and report to the next , meeting of the executive. It was decided that several members attend the annual camp at Matarae of the First Battalion, Otago Regiment, and that a shield be presented for competition by the • territorials in future years.
