Telegraphing to Mr J. T. Paul yesterday from Half Moon Bay, Mr G. A. Wiseman stated that the Eileen, Otago’s challenger for the Sanders Cup, had been tried out at Stewart Island, and had sailed well. 'The members of the crew were all well. Mr C. M. French, a member of Eileen’s crew, and a large number of yachting enthusiasts, will leave Dunedin to-morrow morning for Stewart Island. The crossing will be made from Bluff by the tug Southland tomorrow afternoon. Mr J. T. Paul (president of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association), Messrs C. \V. Sundslrum, H. Camp, and A. W. Hazelwood left Dunedin this afternoon by motor car for Bluff. They will cross to Stewart Island to-morrow morning.

NEW YORK, February 12. Billy Grime meets Bobby Garcia, the' junior light-weight, who has undertaken to make 1301 b, in ten rounds tomorrow night. Grime states that he feels better now acclimatised, and will remain in America for a year instead of going to England.

ROWING

The eight-oar rowing race between crews from the Upper and Lower Harbors. which was to have been held at Port Chalmers hist night, had to be postponed until 7 o’clock on Thursday night, as the water was found to be too rough. The Otago Rowing Association met at Port Chalmers and decided to hold its annual regatta at Port Chalmers on Anniversary Day, Alarch 23. It was also agreed that a crew be sent to Wellington to compete in the interprovincial eight-oar championship on Alarch 24, and a committee was appointed to report to the next meeting on February 22 regarding the possibility of financing the trip.

The Wanganui-Taranaki Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has nominated Stan. Lay, of Hawcra, holder of the Australian and New Zealand record for javelin throwing, as a representative for New Zealand at the Olympic Games.

VICTORIAN BOWLERS

FIRST MATCH LOST,

Tho visiting Victorian bowlers arrived at Blnlf by the Manukau yesterday morning, and played a five-rink match against Southland in the afternoon. The weather was intensely hot, and tho green very fast. The match resulted in a win for Southland by 119 points to 92, the visitors hardly being at their best after such a short time off the boat.
