EMPLOYEES’ PICNIC

ROSS AND GLENDINING The employees of Ross and Glondining’s boot factory, together with their friends, spent a happy time at Evansdale on Saturday. The party, numbering about 200, was conveyed to the picnic ground by buses and private cars, and, although gloomy conditions prevailed in the morning, the day proved an ideal one, and the outing was fully successful. The perfect weather prevailing enabled the committee to carry out a good programme, with the following results:— Ladies’ Mayfair Handicap.—Miss Stewart 1, Miss Latimer 2, Miss Morris 3. Girl Apprentices.—Miss Fleur,v 1, Miss Anderson 2, Misses Fyfe and Cameron (dead heat) 3. Three-legged Race.—Miss Stewart and Mr Gardiner 1, Miss Woodby and Mr Stevens 2.

Elopement Race.—Miss Patton and Buckley 1, Miss Stewart and Goodman

Thread-tlie-Needle Race.—Miss Woodby and Mr Stevens 1, Miss Fleury and Mr Harris 2.
