SLANDER ALLEGED
QUESTION OF SHEEP OWNERSHIP |Peb United Press Association.] PALMERSTON N,, February 14. The Supreme Court to-day is hearing a claim for £6OO for alleged slander, the plaintiff being William Simpeon Harvey, a farmer, of Weber, and the defendant Georgo Hales, farmer, of Weber. , , It is alleged that defendant spoke ol plaintiff to George Harvey, saying; “We want von to return the nine fleeces your ‘father” (meaning plaintiff) “ sent to Napier two years ago,’’ thereby alleging that defendant was guilty of theft. It is alleged that defendant spoke of plaintiff to George and Jim Harvey: “ You shore fourteen of our wethers last year, and we can prove it. You had nine fleeces of ours in your shed which yon sent to Napier,” thereby alleging that plaintiff knowingly had shorn fourteen of defendant’s wethers and stolen the fleeces. ' In respect of each allegation £3OO was claimed*.
