Amery, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said that expenditure by the Empire Marketing Board from May 5 to January 31 was £377,000, ol which £2,000 was spent on publicity and the remainder on economic investigation. The total spent since the inception ot the board was £822,000, mostly on scientific research.
